Celebrities from across the earth stood up together last night for the major event called “Stand Up to Cancer”. Two of the renowned celebrities who showed off their appearances in the red, long carpet were Chelsea Handler and Sofia Vergara at the telecast shown last Friday, September 7, at The Shrine Auditorium.
The celebrities are fully determined to help those people conquer this devastating disease. Matt Damon, Michael Douglas, Robert Pattinson, Tom Hanks were among the stars who came into view on the telethon.
Hanks solemnly told that everyone should gather and participate to destroy cancer. The telethon was carried out in a commercial-free basis by the many cable channels and main broadcast networks.
Other stars who joined claim that some of their family members suffered from the debilitating disease, whilst some of them also had fought cancer themselves.
On the other hand, Douglas reiterated that the disease has chosen the wrong guy that refers to him. He suffered from throat cancer, but that did not bring him to his knees, but brought him to his feet. He devotedly participated in the said event as part of his continued effort to fight cancer. He firmly believed that it can be possible.
More so, Stand Up to Cancer also involved short films about the people who have fought the disease. One of them was Justin, a three-year old boy who avoids thinking of his disease with his favorite toy. He also said that he brings his legos with him all the time.
The program also honored Laura Ziskin, the producer of the film “Spider-Man” who voluntarily helped established “Stand Up to Cancer”. At the age of sixty-one years old, she died after a continuous battle with breast cancer for nearly seven years.
Emma Stone said that like other great heroes, Laura Ziskin had her vision that sets everyone into motion. The decision lies on many who want to move forward to be able to accomplish her dream.
